The UK Nacra 15 Class is for all youth sailors of Nacra 15 catamarans in the UK.
We are proud to have a really friendly and supportive team of sailors, with ages ranging from 13 up to 20+. As a relatively small class, all Nacra 15 sailors work as a team to support each other on and off the water. New sailors are welcomed into the team and will benefit from support in the dinghy park with rigging and useful tips for on the water from the more experienced sailors.
We operate our class training alongside the RYA British Youth Sailing Team camps throughout the year, as well as a competitive national racing program. All sailors are welcome and encouraged to sail at all events.
We understand that the social side is as important as the sailing for many sailors and parents. As such we aim to organise a social gathering at each of our training camps and racing events. These are often organised by our Sailor Reps who play a key role on our Class Committee as the voice of the sailors.
As a relatively new class in the UK, we are keen to encourage new sailors to join the class by organising taster sails with an experienced Nacra 15 sailor. If you are interested in finding out more, please get in touch with us by email at nacra15uk@gmail.com.
The UK Nacra 15 Class Association is the UK class of the International Nacra 15 Class Association. There is a long history of youth catamaran sailing in the UK, with the Hobie Dragoon and Hobie 16 used in the early 2000s, followed by the more high-performance Spitfire. The Nacra 15 was selected in 2017 as the RYA Youth Multihull class, replacing the Spitfire. This has created a clear pathway from junior classes, through the Nacra 15 and into the Nacra 17 and other high-performance sailing.
The UK Nacra 15 Class Association is run by an enthusiastic and dedicated team of volunteer parents and supporters of the UK Nacra 15 Class. We are a friendly and welcoming group, passionate about growing the UK Nacra 15 fleet and giving our sailors the best coaching and sailing opportunities. The committee roles are elected annually at our AGM. If you are interested in finding our more about our committee, or would like to get involved, please get in touch via nacra15uk@gmail.com

Roger has been racing sailboats for nearly 40 years. After many years on the yacht racing circuit he now prefers evening racing at Warsash SC either in his Finn or with daughter Ffion in their RS400. Following time as Southern Area Rep for the Optimist and then Topper class associations he’s now looking forward to helping grow the Nacra 15 class in the UK.
Russell has been sailing dinghies and yachts for over 40 years, although in recent years he has been more commonly seen organising and running racing for yachts and dinghies around the Solent as Sailing Secretary for a number of Solent sailing organisations
As Southern Area Liaison for Toppers until 2023, he has enjoyed a bit of time away from the organising side of things but is now keen to drive forward the UK Nacra 15 events programme.
Mel lives in Plymouth and is a primary school teacher. She loves to get out into the local area enjoying the coast and the moors. Mel is the safe guarder for the Nacra 15 class, primarily there to look after sailors safety and welfare. Both sailors or parents can contact Mel with any questions or concerns.
Ffion is a keen Nacra 15 sailor from Warsash SC. She grew up sailing Oppies and Toppers and transitioned to the Nacra 15 at the start of 2023. When she’s not sailing, Ffion enjoys playing netball and dancing as well as spending time with her friends at the beach. She’s looking forward to providing a sailors viewpoint to the committee along with Finn.
Chris is a keen cat sailor and races a Nacra 20 himself. You will also see him supporting many UK events as the Nacra UK Distributor. Should you have any technical boat related questions Chris is always ready to help.
